August is fast approaching, and, as is tradition each year, the Ayala Polo Club in Sotogrande will be the venue for the prestigious Torneo Internacional de Polo—one of Spain’s most significant polo events. Now in its 54th edition, this renowned competition attracts some of the world’s most elite players, who compete for three distinguished trophies: the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Cups. Each cup is contested at three levels, low goal, medium goal, and high goal—offering opportunities for players of varying skill and experience.

The tournament traditionally begins with the Copa de Bronce, starting on July 28, with the final scheduled for August 2, coinciding with the final of the high goal division. Following the Bronze Cup, the Copa de Plata will be held from August 4 to August 16, culminating in the much-anticipated Copa de Oro, which runs from August 18 to August 30.

Notably, many participants in this month-long celebration of polo in Spain will also compete in the upcoming 2025 Triple Crown tournament in Argentina. Among them are acclaimed athletes such as Barto Castagnola, Poroto Cambiaso, Sapo Caset, Tomás Panelo, Polito Pieres, Antonio Heguy, Rufino Bensadón, Hilario Ulloa, Gonzalo Pieres Jr., Carlos María Ulloa, Lukin Monteverde, and Pablo Mac Donough, demonstrating the interconnected nature of high-level international polo competition.
